1. Use of Web log to provide constant 24 hour communication to the students. In one year over 1000 web-log entries were generated by the students.
2. For GEM1500K we extend the concept of tutorials to interactive chat sessions. In these chat sessions the students can ask live questions even late at night (there are some “late night sessions” between 11pm and midnight at least once a week for the course).
3. Use of net-meeting with web-camera for a more personal interactive chat session.
4. Use of interactive laboratory sessions that are based on video and flash files to enhance students learning experience. These are also distributed to the students as cds so they can run the interactive labs at home.
5. Introduction of “breakfast with the lecturer” where a free delivered breakfast is given to the students in order to provide the students with a relaxed session where they can feedback with the lecturer on any of the course issues.
